Pretty nifty multi functional new hay brand on the market. Hay from Canada that comes with its own hay feeder. This means no mess as you transfer the hay from the bag or container to its cage / bowl! No matter how careful we are, we always get bits of hay falling all around, this totally eliminates the mess – simply tear along the perforated lines and hang the whole box on the cage. It is made of non-toxic chewable cardboard, so it doubles up as a chew toy too!

The hay also seems pretty fresh and green and smells yummmy! Not sure if it can compare to APD though – we tested it on our bunnies, they seem to like it but then our bunnies are not the fussy type. Someone with a fussy rabbit who has tried it please let us know!

Also another thing I like about it….the fact that it comes not only in the usual Timothy and Alfalfa varieties, it also has one with Timothy And Alfalfa. Interesting. I think its a great combination for weaning bunnies or for owners who just prefer to feed a variety.

 It is also comparable in price to other popular hay brands on the market. Comes in 12oz and 24oz sizes. Only thing I think could be a drawback is if you have a psychotic chewing pet in the house and he finishes the box before the hay…..hrm…

This is Kenji’s story: He is a 2 year old Japanese Spitz, imported from Australia. He was bought by a family and was very well cared for by them. That is until the parents started facing problems. Furkids are also innocent victims of broken families, unfortunately So, Kenji’s owner had to put him up for adoption. Kenji has come to us for his grooming and also pet supplies since he was a 3 month old puppy, we could not bear to see him go to an organisatin that might put him down due to resources constraints and over crowding so we took him in.

Kenji has been with us for a couple of weeks, and he is adjusting nicely. We think he likes it here because there are always new people to sayang him, plenty of toys to play with (he just pulls them out of the basket of toys we have for sale on the sales floor =_= apparently, they are ALL his) and nice jiejies who buy treats for him out of their own wages. He also never misses out on grooming sessions and baths now. We love having him here, but the fact is Kenji needs a new home, regardless.

For one thing, he has to be locked up in a cage at night. He is then left alone the whole night in the dark after the shop closes. When we get busy with grooming and customers or when we are short of manpower, he might miss out on his walks. Some customers also literally run screaming out of the store (hahaha, usually kids) because they think he is going to bite them and he is bigger than them when all he really wants is to say hi. He has managed to run out twice when a customer left the door open and he slipped out. Luckily he found his way back both times.

Kenji is an amazingly sweet dog who loves a game of fetch and doesnt whine or bark much. He is also newspaper trained. He knows basic commands like Sit, Paw and Stay. He has had his full course of vaccinations and comes with papers. He also comes with a large carrier and leash and harness.  

However, interested parties must take note that his thick coat requires much maintenance. He sheds a fair bit, so he needs to be brushed out regularly. Kenji is also a little ball of energy. He needs a family preferably with kids who can afford the time and effort to play with him. He gets bored easily and has had a history of biting his paw out of boredem (yes, till it bleeds). 

He is NOT for free. He can be rehomed for $880 to parties who are suitable. The price tag is mainly to reimburse some of the costs the owner has incurred in his maintenance. It is also to discourage people from taking him in without seriously considering the responsibilities. We reserve the rights to screen potential owners.

But then hamsters don’t really look like bears really. They are like a hundred times smaller, don’t hibernate nor attempt to devour humans – or do they? :p

And in keeping with my belief on how awesome humans are in keeping the harmony within the animal kingdom, heres a photo of Einstein disproving the Tom and Jerry myth – rodents on top cat at the bottom sunbathing, loving it!

BUT then i got to know them better!

For one thing, unless you have picked yours up from the drain outside your house, they are really as clean as your average house hamster, but it does take a while to overcome the irrational fear of them. Their little paws are also really cute! Especially when they cling on to your finger and wrap their tail around whatever they can support themselves on. You will actually be able to feel their unbelievably tiny nails! They are amazing climbers and can do inclines as steep as a 90 degree gradient - speaking from personal experience after their, like, 3rd escape! We have since learnt to put them in covered containers. Most importantly, unlike some breeds of hammies, they do not bite! They also seem to live very amicably in relatively large colonies without turning on each other. Another advantage over hammies. =)
